Do you still own ABB India shares?
ABB India demerged its power grids business into ABB Power Products and Systems India Limited, effective 1 December 2019. Shareholders received one share of the new company for every five ABB India shares held. That company is now Hitachi Energy India, listed as POWERINDIA. If you held ABB India on paper in 2019, you have an entitlement in a second listed company that may never have been credited.

Quick reference: what to multiply your certificate by
Find the row for when the shares were bought. The multiplier is what each share on the certificate has become since, counting only the corporate actions we have verified.
| If bought | Each share is now | Plus |
|---|---|---|
| ABB India shares held before 1 December 2019 | 1 ABB India share | 1 Hitachi Energy India share for every 5 held |
| ABB India shares bought after the demerger | 1 ABB India share | — |
Two companies, two folios, two claims. The Hitachi Energy entitlement is the one families most often miss, because the share arrived under a name that has since changed twice.
Who is ABB India’s registrar, and how do you contact them?
Check the company’s current registrar before you write
- Where to look
- The investor or shareholder section of the company’s website, and the general shareholder information section of its latest annual report
- Why it matters
- Registrars merge and change hands — TSR Consultants became Link Intime, which became MUFG Intime — so an address on old correspondence is often out of date
We have not verified this company’s current registrar against a company or registrar source, so we are not naming one here.
Registrars change. Confirm the current one on the company’s investor page before posting anything, and see how to find a company’s registrar.
